POLAR BEAR OBSERVATION HIDE:
In Feburary 2012 the BBC asked MBC to develop a Cameraman's 'Hide' for use in the Arctic.
The program makers wanted to get "up close and personal" to Polar Bears, a daunting prospect. The NHU wanted to be able to observe and film the bears as never before.
So a stronger than usual hide was needed. Also to truly be able to see the bears and the cameraman the 'hide' ideally needed to be transparent:- an Ice Cube. Since the Bears live in the Arctic it needed to work down at -30 degrees and since they live away from people it needed to be flat-packed to fit in a helicopter and construct on-site.
No Problem, MBC can do that.
As if this wasn't enough they needed it in 2 months! Now there's the challenge!
Fortunately Bristol and the West Country is one of the best resourced parts of the country for creativity, problem solving, engineering and a general 'can-do' attitude.
